Hey, everyone. It’s Jinapher from Dark Mode with some not-so-great news. I’m sorry to pop into your inbox on a day that wasn’t previously scheduled, but I want everyone to be aware.
For some reason, the darkmodebooks.substack.com link has been flagged by Meta (Instagram, Facebook, and Threads). If you have been lucky enough that you have this link in your bio or linktree and haven’t been flagged, remove the website immediately.
Unfortunately, for those of us who have already been flagged (my linktree, too), you must remove the link to resume posting on your Instagram/Facebook/Threads. If you had it in your linktree, you’ll have to remove your entire linktree. If you just had it as part of your IG links, you must just remove the dark mode link.
I am currently looking at LinkTree alternatives because that thing is the lifeblood of my writing links (if you have suggestions, please leave them in the comments).
All we can do at this point is REPORT. You can shake your phone when you're on IG and it will pull up an option to report a problem. You can also access this in your settings. Report that the link is safe and it needs to be restored.
This, as you can imagine, is very disheartening and frustrating. I am so sorry this has happened. I genuinely have no idea why. The website is completely safe.
This issue is ONLY Meta. My linktree has been fine on TikTok and elsewhere. My guess is they updated their terms of service and for some reason it got blocked.
So, report, report, report, and hopefully, we can get the link restored. Even if you aren’t having this problem but want to see the best for Dark Mode Books, still report it as a problem please. The more who report, the more likely they’ll hear us. Just say:
I’d like to report that the link “DarkModeBooks.Substack.Com” is safe, but it’s been marked otherwise. Please restore this link. It is a book event.
Until then, if your linktree was removed, what I’m doing is manually adding my MUST NEED links to my IG profile, and I’m just going to sign up for a free linktree alternative and NOT put the dark mode website in it. Then I’ll use that link temporarily on IG.
As far as I’m aware, the Dark Mode graphics that include the website are okay. If anyone has experienced problems with them, PLEASE comment below.
If this problem is fixed, I will send an update. If it’s not by the end of the week, I will look into purchasing a new domain name.

As an alternative to linktree try beacons or create one of the ones in Canva and add the link to them. Then copy and paste the master link for your bio. I just switched from linktree to beacons and I like it better.

Try Beacons instead of Linktree!

I'm glad you haven't experienced any issues! I'm really hoping they mark the link as safe, so I don't have to get a whole new URL just for Meta sites.
